Children's Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

The library offers the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program for newborns up to school age. Each child will receive a log for books to be recorded. Special incentives will be given along the way to 1,000. This club has no end date except your child starting kindergarten. Don’t feel rushed and enjoy the experience! Take every chance you have to read with your children; you will share many special moments along the way.

ABC Come Play with Me

Join us Thursday mornings from 10:45–11:45 to build school readiness for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. Together we will learn letter and number recognition, basic phonics, gross and fine motor skills, and group socialization. Children will enjoy circle time, STEM and craft projects, and exploration centers as well. This weekly program runs September through May.

After School Bunch

Every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. during the school year, kids are invited to join in a special activity and enjoy a snack.

Busy Bags

Too busy to browse? Keep your kids entertained with a Busy Bag! Available for a variety of ages, each bag is stuffed full of themed books, activities, and craft supplies—everything you need, ready to go. Pick up one today in the children's department!

Crafty Kids Kits

Grab a fun craft kit to check out and take home!

Fun Day

Games, rides, animals, face painting, ice cream, and more—come enjoy the library's carnival Fun Day in June! Fun Day is free and open to the public. Check our website, Facebook page, and bulletin boards for the date and more information.

Kids in the Kitchen 

Come to the library on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. to learn how to make treats that can be shared with family and friends. Children in kindergarten through grade 5 are encouraged to join the cooking fun! This program runs September through May. 

LEGO Builders     

Do you love LEGOs? Our LEGO Builders program is back! Kids of all ages can go wild building on the third Tuesday of every month at 3:30 p.m. This program runs September through May.

Mother Goose Time

The library offers Mother Goose Time on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. for babies up through age 2. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes stories, songs, and activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program runs mid-September through mid-May.

Special Programs

We have themed programs for kids throughout the school year. Recent events include Star Wars Day, Easter egg hunts, and a Minions Party—just to name a few! Check our website, Facebook page, and bulletin boards often for program news and signups.       

STEM

Dive into hands-on learning with fun activities built on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts! This program is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. September through May. Children in kindergarten through grade 5 are welcome.

Storytime

The library offers Storytime on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. for 3, 4, and 5 year olds who have not started kindergarten. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes stories, songs, dancing, and lots of fun! The program runs mid-September through mid-May.

Summer Reading Program

Children newborn through fifth grade are encouraged to join our Summer Reading Program. Each child is given a chart and stickers to track their progress as they read throughout the summer. Bingo, face painting, crafts, games, and chances to win prizes add to the enjoyment of reading. A swim-and-pizza party is sponsored by the library at the end of summer. All children who participate are welcome to attend.
